Chengze Wu, whose Taoist name is Wu Shanying (吴山璎), is the Founder and President of the Taoist Association of New York and a Taoist priest in the Zhengyi tradition. Her work is dedicated to the practice, preservation, and contemporary transmission of Taoist religion and culture, as well as to public education, community engagement, and interfaith and intercultural dialogue.
Taoist Lineage & Religious Training
Wu Shanying’s Taoist training is rooted in two lineages: the Longhu Mountain Tianshi Dao (龙虎山天师道) tradition and the Zhengyi Jingming Lüshan Sannai lineage (正一净明闾山三奶派).
Within the Longhu Mountain Tianshi Dao tradition, she formally received Chuandu (传度), marking her formal entry into the transmitted religious tradition of Zhengyi Taoism.
She subsequently continued her religious training within the Zhengyi Jingming Lüshan Sannai lineage and, in 2026, participated in a formal Zouzhi (奏职) ceremony conducted according to the lineage’s ritual tradition.
Her continuing Taoist study and practice encompass scripture, ritual and liturgical traditions, talismanic practices, meditation and self-cultivation, and other aspects of traditional Taoist religious life. She continues her training under the guidance of her lineage teachers while participating in religious practice and community service.
Taoist Association of New York
Wu founded the Taoist Association of New York to support the practice, preservation, and public understanding of Taoism within the diverse cultural environment of New York.
Rooted in Taoist religious tradition, the Association provides opportunities for the public to encounter Taoism through scripture study, meditation and self-cultivation, traditional festivals, cultural programs, lectures, community activities, and religious practice.
Her work seeks to preserve the integrity of Taoist religious tradition and lineage while creating meaningful and accessible opportunities for people from different cultural backgrounds to better understand Taoist philosophy, religious life, and spiritual practice.
Interfaith & Intercultural Engagement
In addition to her work within the Taoist community, Wu actively participates in interfaith and intercultural dialogue in New York and beyond.
She is particularly interested in how distinct religious traditions can engage one another with mutual respect while preserving their own identities, teachings, and practices. Through dialogue and community engagement, she seeks to foster greater understanding among people of different religious and cultural backgrounds and to contribute to harmony and the common good.
Her broader work explores the continuing relevance of traditional spiritual wisdom in contemporary society and how Taoist perspectives on nature, stillness, compassion, non-contention, balance, and harmony can contribute to conversations across religious and cultural communities.

道教法脉与修持
吴丞泽承袭龙虎山天师道与正一净明闾山三奶派两脉法承。
于龙虎山天师道一脉依科受传度，正式入道受法，承习正一道教传统；后承正一净明闾山三奶派法脉，并于2026年参加奏职祈祥大法会，依科完成奏职仪典。
其道教学习与实践涵盖经典、科仪、符箓、静修及传统道教文化，并持续在师承指导下修习道法、参与宗教实践与社区服务。
纽约道教协会
吴丞泽于纽约创立纽约道教协会（Taoist Association of New York），致力于在当代城市与多元文化环境中推动道教信仰、文化与传统实践的传承与公众认知。
协会以道教传统为根基，通过经典学习、静坐修持、文化讲座、传统节庆、科仪实践及社区活动等形式，为公众提供认识和接触道教的机会，并努力建立一个兼具传统传承、文化教育与社区服务功能的平台。

她尤其关注传统宗教智慧在当代社会中的意义，以及道教关于自然、清静、慈善、不争与和谐的思想如何与现代社会、文化交流及共同的人类经验展开对话。
